Commonly known as BC or Benedictine, the military school is a Roman Catholic high school in the United States. Situated in Savannah, Georgia, Benedictine Military School was established in 1902 by the Savannah Priory Benedictine monks. It is still run under the auspices of Savannah’s monks of Roman Catholic Diocese.

The academy is a catholic school whose mission is to nurture the faith of students coming here from diverse backgrounds and prepare as well as polish their skills for further studies at college. It aims to provide high-grade education and develop qualities like leadership, teamwork, commitment towards duties, sportsmanship, patriotism and all other moral values through well-developed academic and efficient JROTC programs.


Benedictine Military School Atheletics

Featuring college preparatory curriculum, Benedictine offers classes of calculus, English, environmental science, economics, European history and American history for Advanced Placement. Further, the curriculum is planned with a religious base to cater Jewish and Catholic demographics. Being a military school, BC runs JROTC enrollment program i.e. Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program for sophomores and freshmen. Though the enrollment in JROTC is not compulsory for both seniors and juniors, 80-85% of students study through JROTC course. Constituting over 350 cadets in JROTC program, Benedictine is distinguished as one of the biggest institutes at Sixth ROTC Brigade.

The military program of Benedictine is based on the criteria of real US Army formations. Every student studying under the program of JROTC belongs to the Brigade that is held under the command of a remarkable senior student who is credited as Cadet Colonel and is further guided by XO, Executive Officer with rank, Lieutenant Colonel.

Tuition & Fee

Since Benedictine is a catholic school, it offers a discount to those students who take part in Catholics. In order to proffer discount in tuition fee, the schools provide catholic card to the students which are supposed to the signed by cadet’s pastor. The registration pack contains one blank card which is then mailed to fellow students in spring.

Benedictine Military School Student Life

BC has been competing at Georgia’s top classification until 2004 after which it dropped down to AAA and to AA in 2008. But in 2010 Benedictine retraced it position to 3-AAAA Region and currently is part of GHSA in 2-AA Region.

The school has a huge history in sports and has won many championships. It has won the Baseball State Championship in 1961, 2014, Golf State Championship in 1983, 1985 and 1993 and Football State Championship in 2014. The school’s athletic program is recognized as the best in the state and stands second in Boys’ Athletic Director’s Cup Standings. It has always been among the top athletic programs in the state from last eight years. Further, BC’s football program is ranked 24th among most winning teams of Georgia. It has won as many as seven regional titles and is one of the most popular games in school.
