Carver Military Academy CampusCarver Military Academy (CMA) is a 4-year public military high school, situated in the Riverdale area of Chicago, Illinois. Named after the African-American scientist George Washington Carver, the school was founded in 1947 and was later converted into a military academy in the year 2000, making it the first public high school in the nation to be converted into a public military high school. In June of 2004, approximately 80% of the enrolled 250 cadets successfully completed the 4-year program to become the first graduates of the Carver Military Academy.

Carver Military Academy offers military-style college preparatory education that promotes leadership, integrity, respect, and self-awareness, through a rigorous yet relevant academic curriculum. With such a strategic approach, the school was able to present great academic performances since the year 2000. In 2014, High School Quality Rating Report placed the Carver Military Academy in the group of Level 1 schools due to its academic achievements.

Carver Military Academy uses a rigorous academic program which motivated the cadets to outperform themselves. The courses and curriculum are updated regularly to provide advanced education and the cadets are made familiar with the latest technology in trade. At Carver Military Academy, cadets receive personalized care on general subjects to prepare them for the rigor of the college life. The school also offers AP classes for students to gain university credits.

Cadets are also offered military training under the JROTC program, to promote physical fitness and leadership qualities. Physical fitness and academic excellence are both considered equally important for a graduate for the Carver Military Academy.

Carver Military Academy Extra Activities

Apart from JROTC program, cadets are also offered a wide range of athletic activities to choose from. Facilities for basketball, football, track and field, baseball, softball, volleyball, and wrestling are available at the school. Boys and girls can participate in any sport of their choice as good coaching and training are provided for all. The quality of coaching provided in athletics also enables cadets to pursue a career in their favorite sport.

Carver Military Academy utilizes online and paper application processes. To apply online, you need to visit and complete the online application process. You need to attend an information session at Carver Military Academy to be included in the selection process. You can also contact cps elementary school counselor or the office of Access and Enrollment at 773-553-2060 to get the paper application form. You need to sign the completed application and mail it to the office of Access and Enrollment. Always remember to mail your application through registered or certified mail so that it can be tracked. A self-addressed` postcard is to be attached with the application, which will be mailed back to you upon receipt of your application as a confirmation note.
