Cleveland Junior Naval Academy
Cleveland Junior Naval Academy is a co-educational magnet school, that is, a public school with specialized course curriculums. It is located in St. Louis, Missouri and enrolls students from 9th Grade onwards. The magnet school was found in 1981 and is considered one of the best in Cleveland. The high-school is part of the Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC).
Cleveland Junior Naval Academy came into existence in 1981. Initially it was Cleveland High School which was later merged with Junior Naval Academy in 1984. In the last 10 years it has changed its campus twice. First in 2006, when the academy was shifted from Louisiana Avenue to Pruitt Military Academy at North 22nd Street and second in 2010, when it was again moved from Pruitt Military Academy to the building of Southwest High School at Arsenal and Kings-highway.
Cleveland Junior Naval Academy is a renowned name. Thanks to its strict military discipline the school’s attendance is near perfect. Additionally, it also achieves 100% graduation rate. The school has around 300 students along with 25 teachers, which makes the student teacher ratio, 12:1. Another interesting program held during the summer break is Platoon Commander which is a 3-week course. In this program cadets are taught leadership skills and fundamental drill exercises.

During sophomore and junior term summer breaks, the Academy takes a select few cadets to Tullahoma, TN at Area Nine Leadership Academy. In this the participants are taught leadership skills. It is a practical training program which focuses on fitness, military drills, combat techniques like sword fighting, hand-to-hand combat etc. Overall a cadet is taught to become an extraordinary leader. The selection is based on merit and silver aigrette is awarded on successful completion of the drill.
Other extra-curricular activities include outdoor games like baseball, basketball, swimming, cross country races etc. The day at Cleveland Junior Naval Academy starts at 0700 hours wherein cadets line up in gym for rigorous exercising.

- Minimum 2.5 average grade points
- At least C Grade throughout the year in Maths and Communication Arts

- No past disciplinary action
- A must 2-hour orientation program for parents of accepted students
