New York Military Academy (NYMA), a niche military school was established 1889 by Charles Jefferson Wright, a veteran of the American Civil War. The academy is about 60 miles away from the city of New York, which amounts to roughly an hour’s drive. The academy essentially caters to the gentry of Tri-State region. However, there is a growing influx of international learners as well. The school premise is equipped with two buildings having classrooms, three dormitories, one dining hall and an administrative block. The academy also provides facilities of gymnasium, two indoor and one outdoor swimming pool and several open fields to harness athletic skills.

Admission and Fees
Application forms requesting admission can be submitted online or manually. The charges towards application procedures are $100. While submission of SSAT score stands mandatory for domestic students, internationals students seeking admission must submit the TOEFL iBT score. The student interview forms the last stage of admission procedure. School fee for boarding students for one academic session amounts to $37,190. This incorporates tuition fee, uniform fee, and charges towards health care, technology facilities, room, board, dry cleaning, and cadet programmes. The fee for day cadets is lower at $14,990. International students are charged $43,340 in totality. Certain concessions are given on fee structure with regards to military discounts and siblings. Monetary awards are also given to parents and alumni for referral admissions.
NYMA is accredited by the Commission on Secondary Schools of the Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools. Athletics & Extra-Curricular Activities
The academy believes that intellectual development is incomplete without physical training. Therefore, the school furnishes ample opportunities to learn and chisel athletic skills. Football, basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Rugby, Volleyball, Swimming, Cross-Country, Tennis, Wrestling and Golf are amongst the many sport activities offered by the school system. The teams are also encouraged to participate in competitions held under the banner of Hudson Valley Athletic League. The mascot of NYMA is the Knight, symbolising the school’s philosophy of gallantry and valour.
